RECOVERY AT THE RANCH

RECOVERY AT THE RANCH

Recovery at the Ranch is an AA program at Special Spirit Ranch for those participating in alcohol and drug addiction, rehabilitation and recovery, this program uses the healing power of horses.

This half-day program emphasizes the ranch’s Power Tools for Living motto: Respect, Responsibility, Relationship Skills, Boundaries, Empathy, Choices, and Consequences. In addition, the program incorporates the core principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and the Twelve Steps.

The half-day program includes:

  • Meditation and grounding exercises connecting with the sacred energy of the ranch.

  • A twelve-step meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous

  • A tour of the ranch and bonding with the over 40 animals in the Special Spirit family, including alpacas, horses, pigs, goats, sheep, ponies, mini horses, chickens, dogs, cats, rabbits, and a donkey.

  • Equine assisted learning activities with horses both on the ground and mounted.
     

Price: $750 for a half-day session of up to 8 people.

Recovery at The Special Spirit Ranch

Nancy Alspaugh-Jackson is a former Emmy award winning television executive and producer, best-selling author, autism activist and non-profit executive. She also serves as co-host of Autism Live, an interactive webcast providing support, resources, information, entertainment and inspiration to parents and practitioners working with those on the Autism Spectrum.

Nancy grew up with a younger brother with Down Syndrome and spent many hours as a Special Olympics volunteer. Her son Wyatt was diagnosed with autism at age three and she dedicated herself to helping others with this diagnosis and distributed over 2.5 million dollars in grants to families as the Executive Director of Autism Care Today. A lifelong equestrian and horse lover, she has competed in Three-Day Eventing and the Adult Amateur Hunters, winning many California state championships. In the fall of 2019, she graduated from Friendly House, the oldest drug and alcohol treatment center for women in the country. Since that time, she has had a passion for helping others recover from alcohol and other addictions and has been active in Alcoholics Anonymous. Nancy donated her beloved miniature horse Jasper to the Special Spirit Ranch, where he gives countless hours of joy to others.
